Wherever should I start?
Christmas 2006 was a lot of fun. We determined that with Kevin's schedule being what it is, we just could not travel, so we invited John and his family down, as well as Kevin's parents. John and crew arrived on Friday, in time for dinner and plenty of play time for the kids. I am not sure if Jack and Emma were more excited to see Samuel or Bombay, but we did find out that Emma and Jacob are fast becoming pals. Emma is a very good big cousin, watching out for Jacob, and Jacob just couldn't get enough of his Emmie-Pie.

As I stated on the previous blog, we did have a fun time at a local park that had a zip line, which John enjoyed as much as the kids. We didn't get any pictures, but John would hook them up and swing them down from the platform so that they would whiz past us giggling and sucking in their breath with excitement. It was so fun to watch! Jacob wanted to participate too, but yet just another thing he is not big enough for.

We spent that evening having our "Christmas". The kids opened their presents, and had a great time as they raced their Shake N Go cars up and down the long hallway downstairs. Also, there was a large light display in our neighborhood. One of the neighbors programmed 8 songs to the lights, and we went out to watch the light show. Everyone enjoyed it, and Jack and Samuel had a blast dancing in the street and playing "air guitar".
That Sunday, the Benders hit the road, and headed for home, to celebrate the official Christmas at their house. We were sad to see them go, but so glad they came! Christmas just isn't the same if we don't have the kids together for at least a part of the holiday!
In the middle of all of that, Grandma and Grandpa arrived. We spent Christmas Eve Day relaxing around the house, and then Christmas Eve we made our way to a wonderful church service with fabulous music. It was a great worship service and way to get focused on the holiday. After making it home and tucking the kids into bed, Grandpa and I proceeded to assemble all of the presents marked "some assembly required" that "Santa" had left for the boys. We unloaded all the gifts, lined them up around the tree, and got to work putting everything together. We finally crawled into bed, and waited for the morning to greet us.

Samuel was not nearly as excited as what we thought! We drug him out of bed (we were all sleeping upstairs since Grandma and Grandpa had our room) and forced him to look downstairs at all of the loot displayed. He finally did get excited, and we spent most of the morning opening presents.

Once the presents were opened, we started cooking dinner. Grandpa took over the turkey, and we gathered items I had prepared the day before. We had turkey, corn casserole, portabella mushroom/green bean casserole, gouda potatoes, rolls, dressing, cranberry sauce and peas. It was quite a feast! Our special guests were our new friends, the Lococos. Samuel attends preschool with their son Nick, and we had a great time sharing Christmas with Jill, Ted, Nick and Cecilia, their daughter.

All in all, it was an enjoyable holiday, and we were worn out from all the fun of seeing family! Samuel can't wait until next Christmas already and begged us to leave the Christmas trees up. Maybe we'll try that next year...
