It's been that time for a while, but about 3 weeks ago, Kevin removed the training wheels from Jacob's bike. Jacob has been aptly cruising around on Samuel's 2 wheel scooter, coasting and soaring as if he hadn't a care in the world. He tried riding his bike, and did pretty well, but had a couple of spills and that was that. He wasn't interested in the bike, when it caused bloodshed.
Finally, I had a little while this weekend, when Hannah was asleep and Samuel was already playing at our neighbors. I grabbed Jacob's bike, and said, "Come on - we can do this".
AND HE DID!
He rode all the way down the driveway, and all the way down the street to his friends house. It wan't a smooth and carefree ride -not like when he is soaring on the scooter. It was wobbly and nervous and completely fabulous. Once on the street, I had to keep my hand resting gently on his back, or he would squeal in fear that he was going to topple over.
But he did it. He's riding on two wheels. Good grief...that means my baby is really growing up, doesn't it?
