Our beautiful Hannah Grace turned 5 months old yesterday and I can hardly believe it! It really seems like just yesterday that we were diligently praying that God would allow this baby girl to be healthy...and He did. I can still remember my dad driving me to the level 2 sonogram where they were checking to see if she had any "hard" indicators of problems (after having several "soft" indicators. I remember the absolute joy at hearing that she looked like an amazingly healthy (and BIG) baby girl! That post-sonogram steak sandwich Dad and I had at Capital Grille never tasted so good!
And now she is here and we can joyously celebrate her! Samuel said his prayers tonight and his timing was impeccable (as it usually is). Sometimes he says the standard "Now I lay me down to sleep..." and sometimes he pops in with a "big boy" prayer where he says whatever is on his mind. Tonight, he thanked God for his baby sister and thanked God for answering his prayers before and giving him the baby sister that he wanted so much (yes, Samuel prayed a couple of months before we got pregnant that God would give him a baby sister). He thanked God that he gets to love her and play with her and asked Him to help her sleep well tonight...I think that means the girl will go 12 hours or more, because as you can see, Samuel has a special connection straight to the top!
At 5 months, Hannah is rolling over from front to back, enjoying rice cereal, prunes, pears and applesauce...we'll be trying peaches and vegetables soon! She has finally agreed to drink from a bottle from time-to-time and loves her brothers. She is a giggly little girl, and laughs the hardest at Samuel and Jacob's antics. They delight in her and both are always wanting to make her laugh. At night, Jacob loves to have Hannah lay down next to him on his pillow while he says his prayers, and usually asks if she can sleep with him in his bed. They always turn nose-to-nose and kiss and giggle and Hannah reaches out to him with her chunky baby hand and grabs whatever she can...nose, ear, hair, cheek...and Jacob always giggles, "Baby Hannah is-a pullin' my hair mommy!"
When she talks, it is this hilarious squeeking, squaking sound. Sometimes she mixes in a high pitched squeel and usually ends with some giggles. She wants to be talked to and played with and is very social. She is an extremely happy baby!
She loves to play peek-a-boo and initiates it herself is she is laying on her tummy. She will bury her face in the blanket or bed, then pop up with a big grin and catch your eye. When she does, she laughs and laughs...then starts all over again!
She is cuddly and snuggly. When tired, she rubs her head on your shoulder and tries to burrow into you. She loves to hug and be cuddled. She LOVES to kiss and be kissed.
She's amazing. She's over 17 lbs, although we are not exactly sure by how much.
And her beautiful blue eyes stop most people in their tracks. I don't think there has been one time that I have been out with her in public that at least one person has not stopped me to tell me how pretty she is. She is delightful.
We're just waiting to see if that hair is going to curl!
Happy Birthday, Hannah Grace!
